Africa Project Update

Recently I was reminded of the value of paying attention.

I’ve found that my default habit is to look at my phone. This is especially true on my daily train commute. When I look around at the passengers on the train, almost everyone’s neck is tilted down so they can stare at their phones. I often arrive at my stop without ever having looked up; in fact, sometimes I’m in danger of missing my stop!

Each week Theresa sends photos from the property, which are published in a blog. This past week Memory took the photos (it might have been the first time she has done so) and they were beautiful! On our weekly call with the team, we asked Memory about her process in taking them. She shared that she learned how to take them by watching others. When we visit or when Theresa is taking the photos, she has paid attention to our process.

Wow! It was a lovely reminder of what is possible when we pay attention, of all that becomes available. Inspired by the reminder, on the train home today I set my phone aside, excited to pay attention!
