November is a big month for the girls program. It is the time of year when final examinations begin and students in grades 7, 9 and 12 take exams to determine if they can move on to the next grade or graduate.
This year 20 girls are in those three grades, 9 of them in Grade 12 alone, our biggest group yet! There is a lot of energy as we wait to see what happens with their exams and what will be next for them.
It is powerful to note how many paths are now open to those that graduate. Forged by those who went before them, nursing school, skills programs, and the Zambian National Service are options that are now available.
As we head into the Thanksgiving holiday, what drops in is continued deep gratitude for the growth of this program, these paths, and our amazing girls. And even more gratitude for Theresa, the cooperative, the monks, and Sangha, who, as reflected in our recent fundraising campaign, have been tying their chitenge in support of these girls and this community.
We wish our girls all the best in their exams, and here’s to seeing what new paths they may forge.
