It’s no secret I’m passionate about Recording and Listening. Excepting sitting practice, it is, to me, the most powerful awareness tool available to human beings. For this reason I want to devote the remainder of my life to making R/L available to as many people as possible.
My first strategy for doing this is to formally teach the process to individuals whose work influences others. I want to reach psychotherapists, medical professionals, ministers, spiritual directors, those who train hospice workers, teachers of yoga, fitness, and nutrition.... In other words, any and everyone in a position to “share the wealth.”
A small group is forming to create the curriculum that will enable the “provider” to tailor their offering to the needs of their “constituents.” What will be true in this case is what’s true in our practice always: it’s not what it’s how. The content or subject matter will be different; the process, the “how,” of the curriculum will be the same. As I was writing this I heard from an artist friend to whom I’d been explaining the vision. She’s realized she wants to use R/L in her art and meditation workshops.
I’m eager for all who take the training to apply the process to their particular content and cohort because I’m convinced that once a person truly “gets” the limitless nature of the practice, that person will use the practice with all of life’s content.
Part of the vision is to create, down the road a bit, a group of Sangha instructors who will be able to offer R/L to those wishing to deepen R/L practice in much the same way Zen Awareness Coaches currently offer support for awareness practice. If you work with a particular group you feel might benefit, and if you are interested in participating in one of these first trainings, please let me know.
