Mushroom season is closing out as drier weather arrives. It’s enchanting to watch the last ones quietly push their way to the surface. (For a larger view, click on the photos.)
Our messenger poppy from last month’s wall photos was, indeed, prescient; the garden is now awash in brilliant orange!
It is great fun to walk the garden each day to cheer on the poppies that are making the courageous leap from bud to flower and will be in full glory tomorrow.
The burial site of our beloved Sadie, a four-legged monk who died at a very old age last year, has re-sprung its delightful blooms.
Elsewhere in the garden an adolescent artichoke shares her branch with a tiny baby, no larger than an inch across.
The garden is not the only place enjoying the delight of Sadie’s flowers.
