One of the great pleasures of being at the Monastery in summer is taking a walk on a hot day to the incredibly beautiful creek at the bottom of the property.
This time of year perfectly ripe blackberries line the banks by the thousands.
Meanwhile in the garden, our very first crop of blueberries is ripening.
The tomatoes have started! Fresh Monastery tomatoes on the serving table at meals -- a lovely way to practice with this month’s yearlong retreat focus on food.
Just outside the garden gates, the morning glories bloom.
The streamers to remind the birds, “These are windows, not open sky,” dance as if in celebration of an unusually cool breeze on a quiet summer evening.
