Monastery Wall

Paperwhites have popped up along the roads and paths around the Monastery.

A bed of cover crop helps keep the garden healthy. Cover crops are often called green manure crops. They are grains, grasses, or legumes that grow during fall and winter and are plowed or tilled under in the spring, leaving the soil richer.

A lovely bed of mixed lettuce varieties with a big healthy hollyhock nearby.

The garden area nearest the upper parking lot is dense and green. The artichoke plant, visible just behind the yellow flowers, came up on its own. It was not planted. Somehow a seed from one of the other two artichoke plants in the garden got clear across to the opposite side of the garden and grew into a healthy specimen.

A bed of healthy lettuce seedlings.

Behind the gate, the garden is getting some sunshine.
