Practice Corner

On one of the calls during last year’s yearlong retreat, I heard the Guide say something along these lines: What if the point is to enjoy life? Those words powerfully interrupted the endless ego conversation of figuring-out-and-scanning-for-what's-wrong-and-how-to-improve-and-be-the-right-person-living-the-right-life.

Simply enjoy!!!

I’m so grateful when that reminder to practice enjoyment drops in via a recording or in some other way. In all kinds of circumstances, even the challenging ones, it seems that the process of enjoyment is available.

Here are just a few of the many things I enjoyed on today's walk:

-- The smell of the earth coming back to growth as the ground begins to thaw after winter

-- Vibrant sunshine-yellow daffodils

-- A sweet little dog licking my hand

-- Green grass – spring is happening!

-- Smiling – at other humans, creatures and everything!

-- The joy of moving the body -- feeling the feet walking, legs moving, breath flowing

-- Green buds on trees that will unfurl and become leaves

-- The feel of the warm air on my skin

-- Soft white, purple and pink blossoms that make my heart soar with their tenderness and beauty

Practicing enjoyment!
