Africa Project Update

It was abundantly clear in the early summer of 2020 that this was not a “normal” year and a traditional Bridge Walk would not be possible. So, we asked Life to take this one. Lead on, Life. There is this extraordinary project in Africa, an incredible group of adults and children we support, a project well worth funding for another year. We don’t have clarity on how that looks in this unusual time—please inform!

And it did…

The 5-mile Challenge came into being, inspired by Cheri taking on walking/jogging five miles a day as a fundraiser for the project. Sangha joined in, set their own challenges, invited friends and family to sponsor them and had a grand time.

We officially closed the challenge on January 30, posted the inspiring end-of-challenge reports (definitely worth a read) and alerted all sponsors that pledges could now be submitted.

We then waited patiently for the dust to settle. When we asked our IT/financial team for the total received, we were stunned: $51,000!

Can there be any question that Life informs/provides perfectly, and we need only have a delightful time in following its lead?

Stay tuned for the next, fun piece Life has already queued up: a celebration in honor of the many phenomenal women in Kantolomba who make this project a reality day in and day out. More soon!
