Last month we reported on the beginning of a new project at Living Compassion in Kantolomba – distributing educational materials to children. What started off as a teacher from Twabo offering to assist with lessons for our girls in Grade 2 and Grade 6 is now turning into something bigger!
The team is moving forward in purchasing books for Grades 1 through 9. The books include the teacher’s handbook, which explains exactly what the lesson is. Theresa said that the student version of these books doesn’t include the full lessons; they are mainly questions to answer based on the teacher’s lesson. Our wonderful partner at Twabo, Teacher Beatrice, goes through the teacher’s handbook and identifies which lessons are most critical and gives that information to Theresa.
Theresa then goes to the team and each member is assigned a lesson. They copy those lessons by hand from the book onto blank sheets of paper. Each team member takes the copy to a shop that will type up the lesson, and the lessons are printed and brought back to the property to distribute.
WOW. The process, the attention to detail, the commitment, the love – all beautifully reflect why this wonderful team is held up for leadership in the community. It is why the community has their listening ear to the door of Living Compassion. “Ukuteya Amatwi kumwinshi wa Living Compassion.”
Deep gratitude for all that makes this possible.
