Zambia starts their school year in January. There has been much excitement these last few weeks captured in the photos and captions Theresa has been sending. This one simple caption caught my attention:
“Ready to go to Grade one this coming Monday, Jack, Elias and Charles say, Yes! They are ready to go and show what they have learnt so far here at Living Compassion.”
After Cheri’s recent Yes Blog, I have been reminded of the power and delight of saying Yes! I project huge enthusiasm and courage in the exuberance of the Living Compassion children setting off for grade one at their local schools.
They are going to SCHOOL!
They have no ideas what that means and there are probably very few voices talking to them about how terrible or scary this will be. They are simply delighted in the experience of today, this moment, walking in and sitting down to be in this new adventure. I project a great deal of courage, but then I was reminded that when there is ego’s resistance to Yes, it is not so much courage that we need as a simple redirection of attention to the delight of being here.
Don’t miss the other significant part of the caption: “…and show what they have learnt at Living Compassion.”
Without fail, the local schools report that of all the children starting grade one, the Living Compassion children are almost always the best prepared. Perhaps their ability to be so excited in their Yes stems from the confidence that comes with knowing that they have practiced hard to set out on this new adventure.
And so it is for us—how lucky we are that we have a practice that prepares us for every moment.
When you read this, we will have just arrived in Zambia. Stay tuned for the blogs!
