Monastery Wall

A new addition this year—the grey water from laundry pours into this barrel and gravity feeds it to courtyard trees and bushes.

An early morning work period to clear another downed tree across the road.

The courtyard pond is an oasis for All in the summer heat.

An extraordinary dragonfly on the east porch.

Some years ago, a monk stewarded a single seed from a pear; here stands the tree.

The pine trees and squirrels team up to make these beautiful pinecone “flowers.” Watch this month’s featured video to see one of the artists at work.

All day long, in the season when pinecones are green, pinecone “snow” falls from the trees. The squirrels are busy mining the seeds inside the cones, a bit like we eat corn on the cob!
