The drought is severe. It is early February and the buckets stand ready to do what they used to begin in late spring—hold the kitchen water to be transported to thirsty plants. (For a larger view, click on the photos.)
 

And our favorite homemade wooden ladder is also at the ready, next to the water level measuring stick, for us to move water to the tank where it’s most needed.

Nevertheless, the soil continues to collaborate with myriad fungi to display wondrous colors...
 

And majestic shapes. Wow!

We are letting the garden grow what it wants, where it will, and there are fava beans everywhere! Great for the soil and delicious and nutritious for us
 

The bright purple of the rosemary is a daily delight.
