Monastery Wall

As the drought deepens, we deepen our commitment to steward water. We have repurposed what used to keep Sadie and Pace (our beloved four-legged monks) cool in summer to now be the courtyard watering hole, thus not needing to keep water in every part of the main water feature. The critters are enjoying it thoroughly! (For a larger view, click on the photos.)

These wildflowers heroically bloom with no water for months!

And the grapes in the garden grape arbor continue right on as well.

The flower of a yellow crookneck squash about to unfurl.

We recently learned that one of the best ‘zero waste’ practices is to buy ‘imperfect’ produce from the store. Here is one of the exquisitely perfect ‘imperfect’ tomatoes from the Monastery garden.

And to assist the birds, who don’t always seem to like sharing, a new bird bath fashioned from old lumber.

Spend a few, lovely minutes with the deer around the courtyard “watering hole.”
